The Port of Valdez Chapter and Fire Explorer Post 307 distributed 150 free smoke detectors to Valdez neighborhoods and installed the detectors through a state program, Get Alarmed Alaska.

2009 Polar Bear Splash-In

February 28, 2009 - The Port of Valdez and Alyeska Marine Terminal chapters joint fundraiser, the Polar Bear Splash-in, brought in almost $8,500 to the splash-in account. The monies are used for educational scholarships, school eye glass program, smoke detectors for new parents and other community projects.

May 22, 2009 - The Port of Valdez and Alyeska Marine Terminal chapters awarded seven $500 scholarships to graduating Valdez High School Seniors. Splash-In Scholarship winners include:

July 11, 2009 - The chapters purchased 21 bike helmets, which were given to children during the Kids Bike Rodeo at Valdez City Hall.

 

January 1, 2010 - The chapters donated $1,000 to a local family for fire recovery efforts.

Chapter Fundraisers Minimize

July 4, 2009 -The chapter raised $390 with the dunk tank. The chapter is using $250 to purchase a brick for the Firefighter Memorial in Anchorage, AK.

August 2, 2009 - The chapter raised over $800 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association during Gold Rush by filling the boot.
